These data were provided by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Cooperative Research Centre. In transcribing them to our format we have modified the RCM8 data so that all variables - u, v, temperature, and pressure - occur at the same time points. (In the original files u and v were positioned half a measurement cycle ahead of temperature and pressure. We averaged successive pairs of u and v to move them ahead a half cycle.)
Some of the moorings contained Steedman electromagnetic current meters and some contained Aanderaa RCMs. Click here to see a map showing the Steedman moorings, and here to the a map showing the Aanderaa moorings.
The instrument depths shown below are those given in the original data files. You will find that most of them are quite different from the depths one would infer from the pressure records. We have no information on how the depths were obtained.
It may be of interest that WOCE's SCM3 current meter moorings during 1991 - 1997 were in the same general area as mooring SAZ51.
