The OSU/TAMU Drake Passage moorings

This experiment (the First Dynamic Response amd Kinematics Experiment - FDRAKE) lasted for 5 years and culminated with the deployment in January 1979 of a closely-spaced line of moorings across the passage, supplemented by a cluster of moorings in the center of the passage. Beginning in February of 1975, moorings were installed during each austral summer and recovered approximately a year later. Each link below will take you to one phase of the experiment.
