BENGAL was the acronym of a research project called "High-resolution temporal and spatial study of the BENthic biology and Geochemistry of a north-eastern Atlantic abyssal Locality". If you have come to this page looking for data from the Bay of Bengal, alas, this experiment was conducted on the abyssal plain Southwest of Great Britain. A bit odd, no?
