MAFF's comment: "There is a noticeable shortage of current
directions recorded between 114 and 186 degrees. Is this real?
Note that the histogram of directions is similar to that from
the meter above." 

The version of this file that we present here has been smoothed
in two steps: First, many individual speed spikes were removed
by linear interpolation. Second, u and v (and implicitly speed
and direction) were smoothed further by passing both series
through a hanning filter, which has weights 1/4, 1/2, and 1/4.
The temperature series has not been smoothed.
