Experiment name: ACM8 (Denmark Str Ovfl) Principal Investigator: R.Dickson PI's affiliation: MAFF Mooring Name: 8807 Mooring position: 62.653 deg N, 34.515 deg W Instrument depth: 2808 meters Seafloor depth: 2827 meters Times: starts 04 Jul 1988, ends 28 Jun 1989 Time increment: 60 minutes Instrument type: Aanderaa RCM5 parameter min mean max sd days speed (cm/sec) 1.49 10.91 33.98 6.05 359.0 dir (deg true) 0.07 210.25 359.58 67.50 359.0 U (cm/sec) -32.27 -3.38 28.75 8.77 359.0 V (cm/sec) -27.16 -4.70 19.29 6.73 359.0 temp (deg C) 0.43 0.95 1.40 0.17 75.2 pressure (db) 2830.00 2833.88 2837.00 0.96 92.6 cond (mmho/cm) 30.31 30.60 31.06 0.10 359.0 MAFF notes that the quality of this record was poor, and that 12% of the speeds were below threshhold - more than three times the number recorded by the meter above this one on the same mooring. Temperature is available only for the first 1804 data cycles (1714 4 Jul 88 through 2014 17 Sep 88). Pressure is available only for the first 2223 cycles (through 0714 5 Oct 88). Conductivity is available throughout except in cycles 4300 through 8033 (2014 30 Dec 88 through 0914 4 Jun 89). A bath calibration for the conductivity sensor was not available. Conductivity coefficients were derived by inserting resistance loops into the cell aperture. Pressure was evaluated by means of a calibration made in January 1990, about 6 months after recovery. Pressures calculated with this calibration are in adequate agreement with the meter depth as derived from the ship's echo sounder.
