Speeds during an interval extending from 0630 14 Aug 90 through 1330 21 Aug 90 should not be used at all. The anomalies appear to be instrument errors. The conductivity sensor was offscale during 126 data cycles scattered throughout the record. These portions of the conductivity series contain nulls. An extended sequence of high and low values during 26 Jan 91 through 5 Feb 91 may be due to instrument error. Use these data with caution. The conductivity sensor was calibrated indirectly using resistance loops in the cell circuit. CMDAC has prepared an alternate version of this record in which many speed spikes and some direction anomalies have been smoothed by linear interpolation. The weeklong episode of bad speeds mentioned above has been removed entirely. Both the original file and the alternate version are available on this disk.
