The filter is described as having a "40-hour cutoff." CMDAC does not have the original unfiltered data and was unable to check for instrument errors. There is a gap in the speed and direction series lasting from 1200 11 Nov 89 through 1200 24 Nov 89 (lines 134 through 160). This gap has the appearance of a rotorcounter failure. The temperatures in this file are potential, rather than in-situ temperatures. (Potential temperature is the temperature that a water parcel would have if it were moved adiabatically from its measurement depth to the sea surface.)
