Experiment name: Australian Coastal Exp Principal Investigator: J.Church Affiliation: CSIRO Mooring name: CH 4 Mooring position: 37.590 deg S, 150.410 deg E Instrument depth: 1270 meters Seafloor depth: 2900 meters Times: 0900 12 Sep 1983 to 1800 22 Mar 1984 Time increment: 60 minutes Instrument type: Aanderaa RCM4 parameter min mean max stddev days speed (cm/sec) 0.01 8.50 31.49 4.98 192.42 dir (deg true) 0.00 175.80 359.80 87.36 192.42 u (cm/sec) -13.13 -0.36 14.54 3.65 192.42 v (cm/sec) -31.29 -3.48 24.04 8.46 192.42 temp (deg C) 3.07 3.62 4.71 0.38 192.42 cond (mmho/cm) 34.43 34.54 34.63 0.04 192.42 Temperature and conductivity contain a gap in lines 874 through 884 (1800 18 Oct 83 - 0400 19 Oct 83). Both series show a shift of register: temperature about half a degree downward and conductivity about 0.05 mmho/cm upward. Speed and direction also contained a gap in the file provided by CSIRO, but we have replaced the speed and direction gaps with predictive interpolations in u and v. It appears likely that the mooring moved during this episode, causing the instrument to record garbage.
