Experiment name: SCM2 Principal Investigator: E.Fahrbach PI's affiliation: Alfred Wegener Inst. Mooring Name: AWI233-3 Mooring position: 69.398 deg S, 0.011 deg W Instrument depth: 248 meters Seafloor depth: 2850 meters Times: starts 29 Apr 1998, ends 20 Jan 1999 Time increment: 120 minutes Instrument type: Aanderaa RCM parameter min mean max sd days speed (cm/sec) 0.19 12.63 35.62 7.24 265.3 dir (deg true) 0.50 275.97 359.90 50.49 265.3 u (cm/sec) -35.54 -11.47 11.92 7.49 265.3 v (cm/sec) -15.75 2.41 26.11 4.30 265.3 temp (deg C) -1.87 -1.38 0.90 0.58 265.3 pressure (db) 227.50 241.71 266.40 6.99 265.3 The pressure record contains evidence that the mooring moved to a location approximately 15 meters deeper on 31 Jul 98. A similar anomaly is present in the pressure records from the other instruments on this mooring. Speed contains many gaps and some linear interpolations. CMDAC has prepared an alternate version of the file in which the speed gaps have been filled by a combination of linear and predictive interpolations, and some of the original linear interpolations have been replaced by predictive interpolations. Neither version of the file is available on this disk. These data may be released to the public domain at some point in the future.
