Experiment name: ICM10 (Bab el Mandeb) Principal Investigator: W.Johns/S.Murray PI's affiliation: RSMAS/LSU Mooring Name: A0 Mooring position: 12.717 deg N, 43.191 deg E Instrument depth: 22 meters Seafloor depth: 48 meters Times: starts 29 May 1995, ends 05 Jan 1996 Time increment: 60 minutes Instrument type: Aanderaa RCM parameter min mean max sd days speed (cm/sec) 0.14 42.09 153.81 28.57 221.3 dir (deg true) 0.00 237.01 360.00 116.81 221.3 u (cm/sec) -54.20 -2.51 47.30 17.51 221.3 v (cm/sec) -118.50 17.09 145.00 44.53 221.3 temp (deg C) 19.70 28.96 32.10 2.02 221.3 The speed sensor of this current meter failed during a 7-day period in September 1995 (lines 2628 - 2787, 0100 16 Sep 95 through 1600 22 Sep 95). The PIs have replaced this segment of the speed series with a linear interpolation. The speed series also contains a short below-threshold episode (lines 5136 - 5147, 1300 29 Dec 95 through 0000 30 Dec 95) that has the appearance of a rotorcounter failure. Speed is somewhat spikey during the final few days of the record. CMDAC has prepared an alternate version of the file in which the long linear interpolation has been replaced by a predictive interpolation, as has the (apparent) rotorcounter failure. Several speed spikes in the last few days of the record have been replaced by linear interpolations. Both the original version of the file and the alternate file are available on this disk.
