Experiment name: ACM8 (German component) Principal Investigator: J.Meincke/E.Mittelstaedt PI's affiliation: B.S.H.Hamburg Mooring Name: F1 Mooring position: 52.340 deg N, 16.347 deg W Instrument depth: 510 meters Seafloor depth: 3510 meters Times: starts 19 Sep 1991, ends 30 Aug 1992 Time increment: 60 minutes Instrument type: Aanderaa RCM5 parameter min mean max sd days dir (deg true) 0.26 188.01 359.90 97.36 345.7 temp (deg C) 6.94 8.95 10.25 0.70 345.7 The speed sensor of this instrument failed; only direction and temperature are available. The direction series shows some spikiness beginning in mid-May 92, which becomes particularly intense during 17 Jul 92 - 8 Aug 92. The latter episode is clearly due to a sticky compass; most of the spikes are at a single value, 294 degrees. CMDAC has prepared an alternate version of this file in which the direction spikes mentioned above have been replaced by linear interpolation. Both versions of the record are available on this disk.
