MAFF notes that data quality was poor after the first six months
and that some 400 temperatures and 70 speeds required correction.

Speeds are below threshhold for 88 consecutive hours during
January 1991. CMDAC believes that this represents a rotorcounter
failure rather than low current speeds.

CMDAC has prepared an alternate file in which many suspect values
(in all parameters) during the second half of the record have been
smoothed by linear interpolation. In addition u and v have been
excised during the January episode of below-threshhold speeds.
Both the original file and the value-added version are available
on this disk.
