The meter was positioned 19m above the bottom, so its depth was 2687 m which corresponds to a pressure of 2731 db. However, the minimum pressure recorded in situ by the meter was 2684 db. This discrepancy may be explained by inaccuracy of the ship's sounder, but may also be due to the lack of an applicable calibration for the current meter's pressure sensor (see below). Regular calibrations were not available for this meter's pressure and conductivity sensors. Pressures were calculated with coefficients derived for a similar sensor fitted to a different meter. Conductivity coefficients were determined by inserting resistance loops into the cell aperture, a bath calibration not being available. CMDAC has prepared an alternate version of this file in which a few direction spikes and speed spikes, apparently caused by instrument errors, have been smoothed by linear interpolation. Both the original version of the file and the alternate version are available on this disk.
