CMDAC's policy is to include in the WOCE portion of this database
only the original measurements, as opposed to filtered data. In this
case, however, we have substituted a low-pass filtered version provided
by the PI. In its original form this record has a 15-minute time
increment. The filtered series provided here have a time increment of
3 hours. The passband is unknown to CMDAC but does exclude the diurnal
tides and higher frequencies. This substitution was motivated by the
presence of a great deal of high frequency noise in the original
record, particularly in the v component. The noise appears to be the
result of an instrument malfunction. The high-frequency part of the
original record is not useful, and rather than provide data that might
be misinterpreted by the unsophisticated user, or exclude the record
entirely, we have elected to include here the filtered time series.
