Speeds are below threshhold for 83 hours in mid-March. This
appears to be a rotorcounter failure. In addition the speed
series is somewhat spikey throughout.

MAFF notes that "The temperature series is noisy, the recorded
meter-bit values suggesting a fault in the circuitry with a large
number of 511 values appearing. The other channels seem not to be
affected." Use these data with extreme caution.

The conductivity series contains 75 offscale values that have
been removed from the record. The sensor was calibrated
indirectly using resistance loops in the cell circuit.

CMDAC believes that some (at least) of the spikiness and the
below-threshhold speeds mentioned above are instrument errors.
An alternate file has been prepared in which some of the more
obvious speed spikes have been smoothed by linear interpolation.
The below-threshhold episode has been removed. In addition the
temperature series has been terminated at 2330 7 Nov 90; data
quality beyond that point is poor. A few anomalous directions
have been smoothed. Both the original file and the alternate
version are available on this disk.
