These episodes almost certainly are due to a sensor malfunction and have not been included here, nor were they used in calculating the statistics shown here. Direction is available for the entire deployment, however. From early November onward the speed series is somewhat spikey and contains unusual sequences of highs and lows. CMDAC believes these data should be used with caution, and has prepared an alternate file in which the least credible speed spikes, together with a few anomalous directions, have been smoothed by linear interpolation. The speed series remains questionable after mid-November, however. Both the original file and the alternate version are available on this disk.
