Experiment name: ACM1 (STACS 10) Principal Investigator: T.Lee/W.Johns PI's affiliation: RSMAS Mooring Name: M251 Mooring position: 26.489 deg N, 76.448 deg W Instrument depth: 400 meters Seafloor depth: 4850 meters Times: starts 06 Oct 1988, ends 23 Feb 1990 Time increment: 60 minutes Instrument type: Aanderaa RCM parameter min mean max sd days speed (cm/sec) 0.39 17.78 59.24 10.88 505.8 dir (deg true) 0.00 260.92 359.91 90.78 505.8 u (cm/sec) -53.89 -9.64 35.04 10.19 505.8 v (cm/sec) -47.08 7.58 51.82 13.43 505.8 temp (deg C) 12.20 17.02 17.99 0.69 505.8 pressure (db) 434.20 455.91 671.20 25.66 505.8 These data were smoothed with a 3-hour lowpass Lanczos filter. Frequencies higher than about 6 cycles per day have been greatly attenuated. The minimum pressure recorded by this meter (434.2 db) suggests that it was deeper than the nominal 400 m value given for it. Speed contains a preciptious drop during 27/28 Dec 88 (lines 1981 - 1995) that is suggestive of a rotorcounter failure. The data are from an Aanderaa RCM and failures of this type are characteristic of the instrument. CMDAC has created an alternative version of the file in which u and v have been interpolated during this episode by means of a predictive filter. Both versions of the file are available on this disk.
