KE denotes eddy kinetic energy per unit mass and has cgs units, and KM is the energy per unit mass of the mean flow. UV is the mean eddy momentum flux and is calculated as the mean value of (u - umean)(v - vmean). In most cases KE, KM, and UV were calculated from filtered data, from which the diurnal tides and higher frequencies were removed. Exceptions, in which the statistics were obtained from unfiltered data, are indicated by asterisks between the table number and the identifier. The table and identifier provided for each entry (the first two columns) refer to categories under which these data were assembled by CEFAS.
