All of the time series produced by this instrument contained episodes
of bad data. These failures are distinct from the digit-shifting
problem noted when the DSUs were read, since the two DSU dumps (one in
Djkarta, the other at LDEO) were identical where the bad data are found,
and do not exhibit digit-shifting there. In other words, the bad data
apparently are in the DSU and are not an artifact of the DSU-reading
process. These episodes have been replaced by gaps in the finished
time series, as follows:

   speed lines 11910 - 12243 (1720 07 May 97 - 0820 12 May 97)
   direction lines 22077 - 22932 (2220 25 Sep 97 - 1920 07 Oct 97)
   temperature lines 22121 - 22933 (1300 26 Sep 97 - 1840 07 Oct 97)
