Experiment name: ICM3 Principal Investigator: W.D.Nowlin/R.D.Pillsbury/B.Warren/T.Whitworth PI's affiliation: TAMU/OSU/WHOI/TAMU Mooring Name: Mooring 5 Mooring position: 19.989 deg S, 51.633 deg E Instrument depth: 3485 meters Seafloor depth: 4928 meters Times: starts 31 May 1995, ends 18 Jan 1997 Time increment: 30 minutes Instrument type: Aanderaa RCM8 parameter min mean max sd days speed (cm/sec) 0.93 4.50 11.44 2.47 42.8 dir (deg true) 0.17 195.70 359.83 98.93 598.4 u (cm/sec) -5.94 -0.25 5.82 1.98 42.8 v (cm/sec) -11.39 -1.93 9.72 4.32 42.8 temp (deg C) 1.56 1.66 1.76 0.04 598.4 Approximately 18% of the speeds recorded by this meter were below the instrument's threshold and have been set to 0.93 cm/sec (half the threshold). Speed ends at line 2055, 1900 12 Jul 95 (about 43 days after deployment). Direction is present throughout. This instrument carried a pressure sensor. The pressure record suggests a depth of about 4000 meters for the current meter, which clearly is wrong. The pressure series is not useful and has not been retained. (The fault may be with the calibration rather than the raw data.)
